moon shines icy over the end of a crosstown shootout
there are whispers of a winter kiss
on the wharf, waiting for some fight or another
traffic dwindles
the water is odd calm
this night in a pensive city

2 poems on problems associated with time keeping

time keeping devices in the space after clocks are forgotten
track moments and days, flotsam that they are
by coffee cups and spoons
beneath a tireless moon

time keeping in a dreamless age
a break in the rain
irrelevant to the city’s undreaming
the wharf sits shivering, baptized
covered in its blanket of shade and noise
