The first storm in weeks that felt redemptive. Not Fall or Fall adjacent. But there was something almost flirty: the way it brushed past, pushed to the Indiana side of the river; then at the water tower wrapped back over bringing a curtain of rain.
The trick is to let your disgust about the lingering death of civilization sweat out of you on the hot days. They will all feel like hot days. Then when it does rain you will feel that touch of salvation. It’s easy to believe in a god when it rains and the tomatoes in the garden at home aren’t struggling against the heat that doesn’t seem to slow down the squirrels.
