I was 20 maybe 21 working 3rd shift in Winchester Kentucky this was my 2nd job that summer while being told I needed to work harder ’cause that’s what men do you know they work until the skin is onion thin til the bones return to the dust the story says they came from the job paid $5.10 / hr that extra dime being the 3rd shift differential to sweat making 3D Styrofoam® deer targets I was a temp but it was long term maybe just maybe I’d get on FULL TIME if I worked hard enough which I knew was a lie there was another temp a good ol boy type who got his arm snapped in half his job was to pop open and the molds after the hot liquid Styrofoam® was pumped in he didn’t wait long enough for the sludge to cool and the pressure to drop so the crow bar popped back on him with however many pounds of pressure and broke his arm at the elbow bone jutting out like a horror movie prop you’ve never heard a scream before if it’s not a strapping 375 lb good ol boy sounding like a trapped rabbit
