Eight Early Autumn Haiku

end of summer rain
and the garden marigolds get
2nd life while I dream

\

this summer sleeps
with the dogs :giant rain
drops on parched leaves

\

o moon keep one eye
on one more poor sinner
wandering this dirt sea

\

the autumnal wind rides
in on the back of the rain
summer nods: a dream

\

a lost pigeon feather
swimming on the edge of a puddle
worn in blacktop: right path

\

the load of tired feet
at the end of a work day
lightened by a visiting friend

\

she cradles my aching feet
stripped of calloused socks and heavy shoes:
worn wet bones salvaged again

\

the horse collapsed tossing mud
& the jockey just like an overused
concertina announcing No More
