the spring rain drains
into the sump pit and thus
beginning again
the water keeps running

September unfolds a clean blanket
this pillow night is its own prayer
cycle down when the guesswork is done

this day’s labor finished
cycle down and close the windows
wake wake to a new sun
to the harvest moon in her smile
