most days Fool’s energy runs the machine

few understand the divinity in such a statement

go ask the wharf possum and salamander

lie in this lingering morning
release and float

this dream current lasts
only as long as the water

accompanied by yesterevening’s coffee, a fresh pipe
the morning breeze, and birdsong sing

I count the new dandelions and yellow ciniquefoil

beauty: and in the distance, sirens

take in the sun you salamander you. the grass will not grow itself. we ride the river south at dawn when the high water currents are sleepiest. keep yer boots dry for the rainy season. dry rot seeps into the wood ‘tween the ears.

follow the river up route 42. take the Rabbit Hash road. Avoid the air traps. Watch the flight configurations of birds of prey.
